Although I don’t consider myself an impressionistic painter I feel I am to a degree in the expressionistic nature of how I paint. With flowers and nature they are constantly changing just as we are moment to moment. A continual metamorphosis, perpetual cycles of life. The color palette of rusts and blues are I feel are both grounding and at the same time a feeling of fleeting and change. Fennell is not really blue though by creating it in this color I feel it gives it a new life and perhaps is part of its own energy. The shapes of them are beautiful and similar to other types of plant life giving it a sense of mystery where I hope to draw the viewer in to gaze and recall the beauty of every stage of being.
The painting is oil paint and metal paints where I control applications of patina to create real rust as part of the color palette. This use of mixed materials creates an ethereal quality as it changes with the light. The patrons who purchased this piece felt what I created. It was with the connection to source fulfilled on canvas.
