Small abstract mixed media painting inspired by a lifetime of collecting bones / fossils. Fossil and stone hunting with my dad, brother, sister, and friends is something we all still do. Often times it is interesting in the way they show themselves. I recall this one time going camping with my friend, my friend's dog and my dog where they brought us a large bone. My friend's pup was kinda small and here she had this huge bone in her mouth standing on top of this large rock. We set up camp next to this valley and we were surrounded by various rock formations. The dogs gathered us to follow them to where they found the bone. Here was a layout of bleached out bones against a dark dirt background under a bush. It was an interesting sight as it made me question what kind of animal it was. Did it lay under here in a natural death or was it harmed by another? There is a story behind the bones of these beings here and their return back to the earth. Every type of fossil has an immense history and this fusion of painting them and other types of tools found is what inspired this piece.
